Uluwatu is the far tip of the Bukit — cliff villas, surf breaks and no harbour of any kind. Serangan, where our yachts moor, sits on the opposite, sheltered side of the peninsula: 40–50 minutes by road (approx., traffic dependent), the longest drive of the southern areas. Guests here do it once, usually for the one view the clifftop bars cannot give them — the cliffs themselves, seen from the water at sunset.
What Uluwatu Guests Book, and What It Costs
The sunset cruise dominates. Clifftop guests have watched the sun go down from above all week; the 4-hour coastal slot — from $750 for the whole Accura 39 — puts the Bukit's limestone behind the sunset from sea level, sea state permitting. Second comes the full Nusa Penida day from $950, which from Uluwatu only makes sense as a whole day out: leave by 07:30, back at the villa around 17:30. Surf groups and villa parties take the fishing-rigged Accura 49 ($1,200 for 4 hours) for an early troll before the wind gets up.

Getting from Uluwatu to the Dock
Take Jalan Uluwatu down through Pecatu and Ungasan to Jimbaran, then either the Bali Mandara toll or the Ngurah Rai bypass round to Serangan — the floating dock (Dermaga apung) at Denpasar 80229, pin sent with your booking. Early morning is quick; the 40–50 minute figure assumes normal daytime traffic through Jimbaran.
After a sunset cruise you will be driving back to the cliffs in the dark, so this is the one area where we suggest the private transfer from $50 without being asked: a car or bus for the round trip, priced for Uluwatu and your group size, separate from the charter price. A Gojek or Grab works fine for the way out if you would rather keep the return flexible.
The Cliffs from the Water
A 4-hour cruise does not have to go far. From Serangan the skipper reads the swell on the south side of the Bukit: when it allows, the route runs round the peninsula so the limestone wall below Uluwatu sits behind the setting sun — a view no clifftop bar has. When the south side is rough, the yacht stays in the calm water of the east side and anchors for the sunset there instead. Either way the swim and snorkel stop comes first, while the light is warm, and you step off at Serangan shortly after dark.
