Bali is a year-round charter destination, but the sea has moods. Picking the right season — and the right time of day — is the difference between a glassy, postcard cruise and a bumpy crossing. Here's how to time it.
Dry Season vs Wet Season
The dry season (roughly April–October) is prime time: lighter winds, clearer water and the calmest crossings to the Nusa islands. It's also the busiest, so popular boats and big dates book weeks ahead. The wet season (November–March) still has plenty of beautiful days — mornings are often calm before afternoon showers — but seas can be choppier and the odd day gets cancelled for weather. We watch the forecast and will always tell you honestly if a date looks rough.
Time of Day Matters as Much as the Month
Mornings are typically the calmest water of the day, which is why we run most island-hopping and snorkelling trips early. Late afternoon brings the light everyone wants — a sunset cruise in the dry season is hard to beat. If you're prone to seasickness, choose a morning departure and a larger, more stable boat.
Book Around the Crowds
July–August and the December–January holidays are the peak — stunning weather, but premium pricing and limited availability. Shoulder months like May, June and September often give you the best balance of calm seas, good value and quieter anchorages. Whatever your dates, a private day charter means the schedule bends around you, not a group timetable.
